Madera, CA - B-K Lighting is pleased to announce our partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy – SSL Quality Advocates Program.

Jointly developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Next Generation Lighting Industry Alliance (NGLIA), the voluntary SSL Quality Advocates Program requires its partners to publish LM-79 performance data for every solid-state lighting product submitted for review. Products which meet the DOE criteria are permitted to publish a Lighting Facts Label.

Nothing has been more harmful to product adoption than outrageous performance claims that just don’t add up. Marking our products with official Lighting Facts Labels is an important tool in distinguishing their quality level”, Naus continued.

Similar to a nutritional food label, the Lighting Facts label summarizes a fixture’s solid-state performance data including: lumens, efficacy, wattage, correlated color temperature (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI). Only SSL Quality Advocates Partners that have submitted product test data to the program may use the label.

As a partner, B-K Lighting has pledged to publish independent, LM-79 test data for all of its solid-state lighting products. This information is available through its website at http://www.bklighting.com/cimages/nw-339.pdf. In addition, B-K Lighting provides LM-80 certified data for its solid-state lighting sources.

“Along with a lighting facts label, LM-79 and LM-80 test data are critical in demonstrating our commitment to quality”, says Naus. “We appreciate the advocacy of the DOE in its cautions regarding products that lack this certification,” he continued.
